pH down is a concentrated solution of phosphoric acid used to lower the pH levels of nutrient solution.

Plants absorb certain nutrients within a pH range between 5.5 – 6.5, outside of this range your plant will not be able to absorb nutrients correctly and will eventually lead to deficiencies, a noticeably slump in growth and an unhealthy-looking plant. Therefore, it is important to maintain a constant pH level within the nutrient solution. Most nutrients and supplementary boosters/ additives raise the pH of nutrient solution so by using pH down is a safe efficient way to correct this problem.
