A treatment only works if it actually reaches the pest or spore it's aimed at, and that comes down to the sprayer as much as the product in it. Our spray bottles (from £2.50) suit small tents and spot-treating individual plants, giving a fine, controllable mist for getting product onto the underside of leaves where mites and eggs hide.

Buying advice

For anything bigger than a couple of plants, a pump-up pressure sprayer holds far more solution and sprays hands-free once pressurised, saving your wrist on a full tent treatment. Always spray top and underside of the leaf — most pests and spores establish on the underside first, and a treatment that only coats the top misses the actual problem.
