AutoPot systems: gravity-fed watering with no power required

AutoPot's passive watering system needs no pump, no timer and no electricity: a tank of nutrient solution feeds each pot by gravity, and a non-return valve in the base of every pot only lets water in once the medium has dried out. That makes it the system growers reach for when they are away from the tent for a weekend, or do not want another timer to fail overnight. The AutoPot System (from £109.95) starts as a compact multi-pot layout and expands module by module up to 16 pots off one tank; the AutoPot XL System (from £149.95) steps up the pot size for bigger plants that drink more between fills.

Building the system: pots, tank and medium

Every AutoPot setup needs three things working together: the pot modules, a header tank gravity-feeding above them, and a free-draining medium so roots do not sit wet. Most growers here run clay pebbles or a hydro/coco mix from our hydroponic medium range in the pots, keep a tank from tanks & reservoirs topped up, and check the float valve weekly rather than daily.
