LED grow lights for UK grow tents
LED is now the default for most indoor growers. A good full-spectrum LED runs cooler than HPS, draws less electricity for the same usable light and spreads it more evenly. Maxibright Daylight, from 200W to 1030W, is the everyday workhorse. Lumatek Zeus and ATS fixtures sit at the premium end with controller options, Omega and Photon 720W bars give a lot of light for the money, and Telos Dynamic (fanless, IP66) and Sanlight EVO sit at the top of the range. If you run AC Infinity's controllers, the IONFRAME EVO and IONBOARD plug straight in. Under-canopy bars from Faven, Nanolux, Hacienda, Maxibright and Omega light the lower branches, and UV and far-red bars from DLI and Maxibright add to a main light.
Choosing the wattage
Start from the tent, not the number on the box. Many makers state the footprint a fixture is built for: the Elite 300W for a 1m tent, the Maxibright Daylight 660W for 1.2m to 1.5m. Compare PPF (µmol/s, the total light) and efficacy (µmol/J, light per watt) rather than watts alone. Buy dimmable where you can, so one light runs soft over seedlings and at full power in flower; a controller from Maxibright, Lumatek or Telos runs several lights together.
