Trimming scissors and drying gear for a clean harvest
Harvest day is where a season's work either gets protected or scruffed up by blunt tools. Curved-blade scissors like the ChikaMasa TS5 (£12.50) are built for close trim work on sticky flowers, while budget Easy Snip and Quick Snip scissors do the job for a lighter harvest. For volume, a Manual Bowl Trimmer (from £149.95) or an Electric Bowl Trimmer (from £219.95) turns a weekend job into an afternoon one, though hand-trimming still wins on bud presentation for anything you're keeping whole.
Dry trim or wet trim is the first decision. Wet trimming straight off the plant is faster and the leaves pull away easier, but the buds take longer to dry evenly. Dry trimming after a few days on the rack keeps more trichomes intact but is slower going. A Herb Dryer Filtered Drying Net (from £14.95) or our Drying Rack (£29.95) gives the airflow you need either way — don't dry in a sealed tent with no circulation, that's how you get bud rot instead of a cure.
Curing and finishing touches
- Boveda humidity packs — two-way packs that hold your cure jars at a stable RH instead of drying out or going soggy.
- Trimbag and Dry Trim Bag Trimmer — tumble trimmers that knock leaf off without a blade, useful for bulk dry trim.
- Black nitrile gloves — keep resin off your hands and stop cross-contamination between plants.
