Base nutrients for coco, hydro and soil

Every feeding schedule starts here. A base nutrient supplies the core NPK and trace elements your plant needs from the day it goes into final medium through to the last week of flower, and almost every serious line splits it into an A and a B bottle so calcium and phosphates don't lock out in the jug. Get the base wrong for your medium and no amount of booster fixes it, so this is the one bottle worth buying right first time.

Coco, hydro and soil each pull nutrients differently, which is why we stock separate coco, terra and hydro versions of most ranges rather than one bottle for everything. Coco holds almost no nutrient itself, so you're feeding at every watering, typically 1.2 to 1.8 EC through veg rising to 1.8 to 2.2 EC in flower depending on the strain and run-off you're seeing. Soil buffers more gently and forgives a slightly heavier hand. Hydro systems recirculate the same solution for days, so getting the starting EC and pH right matters even more since there's no fresh run-off to dilute mistakes.

Picking the right one

If you're growing in coco, start with a dedicated coco A+B rather than a soil or hydro formula — coco needs calcium topped up constantly and a generic base won't cover it.
