HYDROGROW A&B is Hy-Gen's two-part base nutrient for the vegetative stage in inert media — clay pebbles, rockwool, perlite, NFT and deep water culture. Inert systems hold no reserve and no buffering: whatever is in the tank is exactly what the roots get, and a shortfall shows within days rather than weeks. That makes the base feed the whole feeding programme rather than a starting point, which is why a hydro-specific formulation matters more here than in soil. Supplied as two parts because the calcium in A and the sulphates and phosphates in B will precipitate if they are ever concentrated together.

In Hydro, a Feed Problem Shows Up in Days
Soil and coco both hold a buffer that hides a mistake for a while. Inert media do not. Get the ratio wrong in DWC or NFT and you see it almost immediately — weak roots, pale new growth and poor nutrient uptake that no amount of topping up corrects, because the imbalance is in the tank itself. The upside of the same property is control: a hydro base built for the job puts an exact solution at the root, and the plant responds just as fast in the right direction.
How to Use
- Always add A first, then B — each into water, never into one another, stirring between
- Equal parts: A and B dose at the same rate
- pH: hold 5.5–6.0 in inert media, tighter than coco or soil
- Check EC daily in a recirculating tank — the plant changes the solution as it drinks
- Switch to HYDROBLOOM A&B at the flip
- Never store mixed — make up only what the reservoir needs
