Choosing a Quest dehumidifier
Quest rate their units at grow-room conditions rather than at the warm, saturated air manufacturers usually quote, so the litres-per-day figure on the spec sheet is close to what the machine will actually pull in your room. That matters when you are sizing: a unit rated optimistically will run flat out and still lose ground.
Sizing comes down to two numbers — the volume of the space and how much water goes in each day. Almost all of the water you feed leaves the plants again as vapour, so a room getting 40 litres a day needs to remove something close to 40 litres a day. Undersizing shows up as condensation on cool surfaces overnight; oversizing mostly costs money.
Every unit here runs standalone from its own humidistat. If you would rather hold a set point automatically, the DEH 3000R controller drives the unit remotely, and the Climate Master talks to TrolMaster over its HS1 interface. Filters, duct kits and hanging brackets for each model are further down the page.
Efficiency is worth reading as well as capacity. Litres per kilowatt-hour tells you what the unit costs to run once it is holding a room, and on a machine running most of the day that difference is larger than the difference in purchase price.
