Description

A base feed built for coco, not adapted to it

COCOGROW A&B is Hy-Gen's two-part base nutrient for the vegetative stage in cocopeat. Coco is not an inert medium in the way clay or rockwool are — it holds a cation exchange capacity that actively grabs calcium and magnesium out of the feed and releases potassium in their place, which is why a general-purpose nutrient run in coco produces deficiencies that look like a pH fault. COCOGROW is formulated around that behaviour rather than in spite of it. It is supplied as a two-part A and B because the calcium in one half and the sulphates and phosphates in the other will precipitate out if they are ever concentrated together.

Key Benefits

  • Formulated for coco specifically — the calcium and magnesium levels account for what the medium takes out, so a separate Cal-Mag is often unnecessary
  • Two-part for stability — A and B stay separate so nothing precipitates in the bottle or the tank
  • Vegetative ratios — nitrogen-led for leaf and stem, with the balance to build the frame the flowering stage will load
  • Pairs directly with COCOBLOOM — the same system, switched at the flip, so there is no change of brand mid-cycle
  • Three sizes — from a single tent up to a room running a bulk reservoir

Coco Strips Calcium Out of an Ordinary Feed

The classic coco failure is a grower using a soil or hydro nutrient and watching the plant develop interveinal yellowing and weak roots within a fortnight. It reads like a lockout and gets treated with a pH adjustment that does not help, because the actual cause is the medium exchanging its own potassium for the calcium and magnesium in the feed. A coco-specific base carries those elements at a level that accounts for the exchange, so what the plant is offered is what it actually receives — which is the difference between poor nutrient uptake and steady growth.

How to Use

  • Always add A first, then B — into water, never to each other, and stir between the two
  • Equal parts: A and B go in at the same rate as one another
  • Coco, vegetative stage: follow the Hy-Gen feed chart for the strength, building up as the plant establishes rather than starting at full
  • pH: hold 5.8–6.2 in coco, and check it after the feed is fully mixed rather than partway
  • Switch to COCOBLOOM when the plant moves into flower
  • Never store mixed — make up what a reservoir needs and no more
