Description

Water your plants automatically, without pumps or power

The AutoPot 1Pot System is a gravity-fed automatic watering setup built around AutoPot's Aqua Valve – the current AQUAvalve5, one in every tray – which doses each pot with exactly the nutrient solution it needs. Standard 15 litre square pots make it ideal for tents and smaller rooms, and it runs as either a hydroponic system or a soil and coco irrigation system. Because it works entirely on gravity there is no pump, timer or mains water to worry about, so daily watering rounds and the risk of over- or under-feeding when you are away simply disappear - just fill the tank and let it work.

Each AQUAvalve5 lets a shallow fill of water or nutrient solution into its tray, closes, and stays shut until the plant has taken it up, so the roots go through a natural wet-and-dry cycle and every plant drinks at its own pace – no overwatering, no drying out. Choose how many pots you need, from a single pot to 100, then either the matched AutoPot reservoir or No Tank if you already have a tank or water butt. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, flowering plants and shrubs all do well on it in grow tents, grow rooms and greenhouses, and pots can be spaced further apart as plants grow.

What's Included

  • 1Pot trays and lids with 9mm top hat grommets – one per pot
  • 15 litre square pots
  • AQUAvalve5 – one per pot
  • Marix disc and root control disc for every pot
  • 9mm pipe, filter, in-line taps and connectors to link the pots
  • 16mm supply pipe, click-fit tank filter, 16mm in-line tap and 16-9mm connectors on systems of 8 pots and more
  • Reservoir (With Tank only) – a 47 litre tank with lid on 1 to 6 pots, or a FlexiTank on larger systems: 100L (8–9 pots), 225L (12–16), 400L (24–60) or 750L (80–100)

Key Benefits

  • Aqua Valve dosing: each pot draws only the solution it requires, avoiding over- and under-watering
  • No power needed: no pumps, timers or electrical connections to install
  • Unattended for weeks: plants keep watering themselves once set up and filled
  • 15 litre pots: a tidy footprint that suits tents and smaller grows
  • Simple to expand: add more pots to the same system in minutes
  • Water-saving: gravity fed from a tank or barrel with no wasted run-off
  • Mineral or organic feeds: the large-bore AQUAvalve5 and 9mm pipework carry liquid organics as well as mineral nutrients

How to Use

  • Root control: sit the black Marix disc in the base of the pot and the root control disc in the tray, gold face up
  • Growing medium: AutoPot recommend roughly 50% perlite or pH-stable clay pebbles mixed with soil or coco, over a 2.5 cm drainage layer of pebbles or perlite
  • Pot up established plants at least 22.5 cm tall, water each pot through outside the tray, let it drain for 15 minutes and wipe the base clean before it goes in
  • Position the tank above the level of the pots so it can gravity-feed
  • Reservoir height: the outlet should sit at least 15 cm above the highest AQUAvalve
  • Connect the feed pipework to each Aqua Valve and fill with prepared nutrient solution
  • Prime the system and check the valves seat correctly on first fill
  • The valves regulate uptake as the medium dries - just top up the tank
  • Let roots establish: leave the system off for 7–12 days after potting up, then open the tap – if a pot still feels heavy, give it a few more days
  • Top up when about a third of the solution is left – close the tap, refill, wait 30–60 minutes for any sediment to settle, then reopen. Never let the reservoir run dry
  • Keep the lines clear: check the filter weekly and, when feeding mineral nutrients, open the end-of-line taps into a bucket for 30–60 seconds once a week. Aim for 18–21°C in the reservoir and a pH of 5.8 in soil or 5.5–5.6 in coco

Frequently Asked Questions

Which reservoir comes with each size?

With Tank systems of 1 to 6 pots include AutoPot's 47 litre rigid tank with lid; 8 and 9 pots come with a 100L FlexiTank, 12 and 16 pots with a 225L FlexiTank, 24 to 60 pots with a 400L FlexiTank and 80 or 100 pots with a 750L FlexiTank. No Tank is the same kit without the reservoir – its outlet must sit at least 15 cm above the highest valve.

When do I turn the system on after planting?

AutoPot advise leaving 15 litre pots off the system for 7–12 days after potting up, so the roots grow out in search of moisture. Lift a pot to judge it – if it still feels heavy, wait a little longer before opening the tap.

Can I add more pots later?

Yes. Every pot is a separate module, so extra 1Pot modules join the existing pipework with tee and cross connectors. AutoPot's own builds move from the 47 litre tank to a FlexiTank above six pots, which is a sensible guide when you extend.

Should I put an air stone in the reservoir?

No – AutoPot advise against air stones in the reservoir because they can push the pH up. A small water pump to stir the solution is optional, and needed when feeding liquid organics (around 15 minutes every 2 hours).
