Description

Better aeration for stronger, healthier roots

Perlite is a lightweight, expanded volcanic-glass substrate additive that opens up air pockets in soil and coco, exactly what roots need to develop properly. Mixed into your medium, it holds the balance of air and water right where plants want it, making waterlogging almost impossible while speeding up rooting.

Waterlogging and transplant shock stalling your roots?

Heavy, compacted substrates hold too much water and starve roots of oxygen, and transplanting into dense medium damages fragile roots. Perlite's open structure makes waterlogging almost impossible, minimises root damage when transplanting, accelerates rooting and lowers the risk of fungal disease in the substrate.

Key Benefits

  • Improves aeration in soil and coco substrates
  • Balances air and water to prevent waterlogging
  • Minimises transplant shock and root damage
  • Accelerates rooting when mixed through the medium
  • Reduces fungal disease risk in wet substrates

How to Use

  • Mix in: blend thoroughly into soil or coco before potting, typically 10-30% of substrate volume depending on how open you want the mix
  • Higher ratios: use more perlite for cuttings, moisture-sensitive crops and hand-watered pots
  • Top tip: rinse or wet before mixing to keep dust down and settle it into the medium

Technical Specifications

  • Material: expanded volcanic glass (perlite)
  • Function: aeration and drainage additive
  • Typical mix rate: 10-30% of substrate volume
  • Compatible media: soil and coco coir
  • pH: neutral and inert
