Sledgehammer is a natural, organic liquid rinse designed to remove the mineral salt deposits that accumulate in growing media and hydroponic systems after sustained heavy feeding. Concentrated fertiliser use over a full grow cycle inevitably leaves residue behind, and left unaddressed that build-up compromises how well roots can take up water and nutrition even when the feed itself is correct.
Its active ingredient is saponin, a natural extract of the yucca plant, which works by encouraging water movement through soil and soilless media and reducing the surface tension that otherwise limits moisture and nutrient absorption at the root. That makes it as much a maintenance tool for the growing system as a treatment for the plant itself.
It is used periodically through the grow - mixed into fresh water for garden and container use, or added at a lower rate to hydroponic reservoirs during regular feeding, with a dedicated flush during reservoir changes.
