Build Your Own Drip or Flood and Drain Bench

If you are making your own tables out of unistrut, this is the tray to build them around. The Idrotray Standard is a versatile component for creating drip or flood and drain systems, moulded from ABS plastic for a far more durable tray than most of what is on the market. 10cm high sides give real depth for flooding and for containing run-off, and the surface retains minimal fluid so trays drain cleanly instead of leaving standing water for algae and root disease to work with. They are 100% recyclable, chemical resistant, and have a high melting point with low thermal expansion, so they hold shape under lights and through cleaning. Seven sizes run from 60x60cm to 240x120cm, ideal where an enclosed space rules out the larger Idrotray Infinity.

How to Use

• Measure the room and pick a footprint that leaves working space at the ends of the bench
• Build a level frame, unistrut or otherwise, supporting the tray fully across its base
• Check the level in both directions, as an out-of-level tray waters unevenly
• Set a fall towards your drain or return point for flood and drain use
• Position pots so drip lines or flood depth reach every plant equally
• Rinse and sterilise between crops, taking advantage of the chemical-resistant surface
