Plagron Euro Pebbles are horticultural expanded clay pellets, kiln-fired from pure, salt-free clay in an open oven to produce hard, irregular granules between 8 and 16mm across. Because the material is completely inert and carries no nutrient charge of its own, the grower has total control over feed strength and EC from the very first watering, which is exactly what recirculating hydroponic systems demand.

Euro Pebbles suit ebb and flow tables, drip and NFT systems, and any run-to-waste or recirculating hydro setup where a stable, well-drained medium is needed around the root zone. The large air gaps between pellets mean it is genuinely difficult to overwater the medium, so growers running automated irrigation on a timer can feed frequently, including overnight, without risking waterlogged roots. The same pebbles also work as a drainage layer at the base of soil or coco pots, or mixed through a substrate to open up aeration where a mix has become compacted.

Because the clay is cleaner and harder than most budget pebbles, there is minimal dust and debris to rinse away before first use, and the pellets can be cleaned and reused for many seasons rather than thrown away after one grow, which keeps the ongoing cost of a hydro system down considerably.
