Why won't cuttings root on a cold windowsill?

A windowsill or unheated bench can swing well below the temperature seeds and cuttings need, showing up as slow, patchy germination or cuttings that sit for weeks without rooting. Keeping the root zone in the right range with a heated base solves this without heating the whole room.

How to Use
