Hands-Off Curing That Protects Terpenes and Kills the Guesswork
The Cure Puck Gen 2 is a smart curing controller from Keirton, the engineering house behind Twister Technologies. It screws into the lid of a sealed curing container and measures humidity, CO2 and temperature in the headspace as well as the conditions in the room around it, then vents the container in precise, controlled bursts using a variable-speed pump.
Where a cheap hygrometer is typically accurate to plus or minus 4% and drifts quickly, the Cure Puck uses high-accuracy, user-replaceable sensors rated to plus or minus 1%. That matters when the whole target band for a good cure sits between 60% and 63% relative humidity. Adaptive algorithms learn the room, and temperature compensation holds the moisture gradient steady as conditions swing across the day.
Gen 2 adds Hydrate Mode for slowly bringing overdried flower back up, CO2 limit control to stop gas building up past your threshold, custom cure timing, a high-definition room sensor and one-touch AutoCure with FunkGuard. Everything is visible live in the mobile app, and a backup battery keeps the cure running through transport or a power cut.
Key Benefits
- Automatic burping - the container vents only when the readings call for it, day or night, with no lids to remember
- Plus or minus 1% sensor accuracy, user-replaceable, against the 60-63% RH band that decides a good cure
- Hydrate Mode restores moisture to overdried flower gradually instead of shocking it
- CO2 limit control and temperature compensation keep respiration in check and the moisture gradient stable
- Live monitoring from the mobile app on iOS and Android, with alerts if the flower moves into microbial-risk territory
- Solid-state internals and a backup battery, so a power failure or a move does not break the cure
Why Do Cures Come Out Inconsistent?
Because burping is done by feel. Open a container too often and you strip moisture and volatile terpenes; leave it too long and CO2 and water activity climb until you are risking bacterial or fungal growth in the densest flower. The two failure modes look identical from the outside until the jar is opened. Measuring the headspace directly - rather than guessing from a stem snap or an uncalibrated hygrometer - is what turns curing from a knack into a repeatable process.
How to Use
- Fit the puck to a sealed container - a fibre or HDPE barrel, tote or jar with a compatible port - using the supplied flanged nut
- Place the chamber sensor in the headspace with its probe cover fitted, and site the room sensor in the curing room itself
- Load flower at the end of dry, ideally once the room average has settled around 60% RH
- Press One-Touch AutoCure and let FunkGuard manage the exchange rate; set custom cure timing if you want a slower or faster pace
- Use Hydrate Mode if material has come in too dry, and watch the curve in the app rather than opening the container
- Store cool and dark throughout - oxidation degrades cannabinoids and terpenes even when humidity is correct
