Description

Fresh Charcoal to Bring a Refillable Carbon Filter Back to Full Strength

AC Infinity Activated Carbon Refill is loose, granular Australian virgin charcoal for emptying into a refillable carbon filter once the old bed is spent. It is RC412 grade with a 1200+ IAV rating, the premium carbon AC Infinity use in their own duct filters, and its granules have a more porous surface than pelletised carbon, so more odour is trapped in the same space. AC Infinity lab-test the refill to block odours as effectively as a factory-built filter without any packing down, so restoring odour control in a grow tent or grow room takes minutes and the filter body is kept rather than thrown away.

Key Benefits

  • 1200+ IAV rating — a high iodine value means more internal surface to trap odours and airborne chemicals, and longer between refills
  • Granules, not pellets — the more porous granular surface adsorbs more than pelletised carbon
  • RC412 Australian virgin charcoal — fine, high-density pores for fast adsorption
  • Factory-filter performance — matches AC Infinity's built filters in their odour tests with no compressing
  • Less waste — replace only the carbon, keep the housing and flanges; AC Infinity say spent charcoal can go on the compost

When Odours Start Getting Through

Activated carbon works by adsorption: odour molecules and volatile compounds lock into millions of microscopic pores as the fan draws air through the bed. Once those pores are full, smells pass straight through, and high humidity uses up the capacity faster because moisture competes for the same surface. With a sealed filter the only answer is a new one. A refillable filter lets you change just the charcoal, restoring full odour control without restricting airflow through the grow room.

How to Use

  • Switch off the fan and take the filter down
  • Twist off a flange (on AC Infinity Refillable Carbon Filters) and empty out the spent charcoal
  • Fill the chamber with fresh granules — the kit's funnel and scoop keep it tidy — right to the top so no air can bypass the carbon
  • Refit the flange and pre-filter, rehang the filter and reconnect the ducting
  • Reseal the bag between refills so unused carbon does not take up moisture and smells from the room

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I refill a standard sealed carbon filter with this?

No. Sealed filters are not made to be opened. The refill is for refillable filters such as the AC Infinity Refillable Carbon Filter, whose twist-off flanges let you empty and refill the chamber.

Which size do I need?

For a 100mm (4 in) or 150mm (6 in) refillable filter, 8 lb gives at least two refills of the 100mm or one of the 150mm. A 200mm (8 in) filter needs the 16 lb, which also covers at least four refills of a 100mm or two of a 150mm.

How often will I need to refill?

It depends on how hard the fan runs, the humidity and how strong the smells are. Refill when odours start to get through even with a clean pre-filter, after reversing the flanges to use the carbon evenly.

Do I need to compress the charcoal?

No. AC Infinity designed the refillable chamber so the granules settle to the right density on their own, and lab-tested it to block odours as well as their factory-packed filters.
