A pH electrode's glass bulb has to stay hydrated to keep working; let it dry out between uses and the readings start drifting, calibration stops holding, and eventually the probe fails for good well before its natural lifespan is up. KCI Storage Solution is a potassium chloride based liquid specifically for keeping the tip of a pH probe wet and stable whenever the meter is not actively in use — after calibration, between reservoir checks, or in the meter's storage cap overnight.
