Athena Roots Culture Media is the second of the two media in Athena's tissue culture protocol, formulated specifically to trigger and support root initiation once a plantlet has established shoot growth in culture. It arrives pre-formulated with the full nutrient and gelling-agent package already balanced — the grower adds water, autoclaves, and pours into Culture Vessels, with no separate weighing or mixing of individual salts required.
Getting the rooting-stage hormone and nutrient balance wrong is one of the more common failure points in DIY tissue culture, because too much cytokinin carried over from the shoot stage will suppress root formation, and too little of the right auxin ratio leaves plantlets with weak, sparse root systems that struggle once transplanted to soil or coco.
