Why Do Leaves Yellow When the Feed Looks Right?

Soft and reverse osmosis water carries almost nothing to begin with, so plants show yellowing between the veins, rusty spotting and slow growth even on a full-strength feed. That is not a shortage of base nutrients but of calcium and magnesium, and it soon becomes poor nutrient uptake because the plant cannot build tissue fast enough to use what you give it. Correcting the base water keeps uptake even and leaves dark.

How to Use

  • Soil and light mix: add Calmag to plain water at the rate given on the label before anything else goes in.
  • Coco: use with every feed where you are starting from RO or soft water, so the medium is never running short.
  • Mixing order: Calmag into the water first, stir well, then add your base feed and boosters.
  • pH: check and adjust only once the full solution is mixed, then water your plants directly.
  • Storage: keep sealed, cool and out of direct sunlight, and shake before use.

Note — BioBizz publish these as millilitres per litre of water. Their sheet gives two rows per stage, “prevention (RO or soft water)” and “deficiency correction”; which figure belongs to which row could not be confirmed, so the range above spans both. Use every watering when growing on RO or very soft water, and once a week if you see calcium or magnesium deficiency signs. Add CalMag to the water first, then your base feed. BioBizz: “It is always better to be modest than to add more.” Target pH 6.2–6.5. Check pH and EC after mixing.
