BioBizz Light-Mix is a lightly pre-fertilised, peat-based organic substrate blended as the foundation for seedlings, young plants and cuttings. Its low nutrient charge hands feeding control back to the grower from day one, while its open structure keeps the mix free-draining. As water moves through it, micro-life kicks in and produces the organic catalysts that drive rapid root development. Bags of substrate ship on a pallet, so orders are subject to a minimum of 30 bags - for smaller quantities, collect from our Wembley store (HA0 1HX).

Avoiding nutrient burn and slow establishment in young plants

Young plants and cuttings are the most vulnerable to nutrient burn - the yellowing and crunchy, scorched leaf tips that appear when a substrate cannot buffer stronger feeding. Light-Mix's low starting charge and self-regulating pH let you build feed strength gradually, even for heavy feeders, without that risk, while its drainage keeps the root zone from sitting too wet and turning mouldy.

How to Use

• Plant seedlings, cuttings or young plants directly into the mix and water in.
• Start with light feeding and increase nutrient strength as the plant develops.
• With automatic irrigation, check that water is infiltrating the substrate rather than pooling on the surface, which can encourage mould.
• Keep the medium moist but never waterlogged to protect oxygen at the roots.
