Description

Natural sugars and minerals that power flowering and sweeten fruit

BioNova Vitasol is an organic, cane molasses-based stimulator of 100% natural ingredients, enriched with amino acids, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamins and trace elements, made in the Netherlands by BioNova. Added to the feed at a 1:1000 concentration from mid flowering onwards, it gives plants a readily available energy source when demand is highest and feeds the beneficial bacteria and fungi in the root zone. BioNova developed it to bring out a sweeter taste and fuller flavour in any crop grown in soil, coco or hydro.

Key Benefits

  • Energy for heavy flowering — natural sugars support plants through periods of high production and rapid growth under grow lights.
  • Feeds root-zone life — molasses fuels beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi, which make more phosphorus, potassium and iron available to the plant.
  • Sweeter, more flavourful fruit — used through the final weeks of flowering to develop taste and aroma.
  • Amino acids for stress recovery — proline, glycine, alanine and arginine help plants withstand stress such as drought and waterlogging, and recover faster.
  • Potassium and trace elements — potassium for stomatal control and starch and protein synthesis, plus boron, copper, iron, manganese and zinc.

Why Do Plants Stall in Late Flowering?

Late in the flowering cycle, plants under strong lighting can use carbohydrates faster than they make them, and a shortfall in nutrients or a slump in root-zone biology shows up as stalled growth, undersized fruit and flat flavour. Vitasol tops up readily available sugars and amino acids and keeps soil microbes active, so the nutrients already in the medium are converted into a form the plant can take up when it needs them most.

How to Use

  • Shake well and add Vitasol to the nutrient solution after the base nutrients.
  • Mid flowering: 0.4–0.7 ml per litre (4–7 ml per 10 L).
  • Final weeks of flowering: 0.8–1 ml per litre (8–10 ml per 10 L); BioNova's technical guidance allows up to 1.5 ml per litre.
  • As a microbe boost at any stage: 0.25–0.5 ml per litre (2.5–5 ml per 10 L).
  • Root feed only — Vitasol is not for use as a foliar spray.
  • Irrigation systems: sugars can leave residue in pipes and drippers, so clean the system thoroughly — BioNova note that Vitasol does not suit every irrigation system.
  • pH: once every nutrient and additive is in, adjust to 6.0–6.5 in soil, 5.5–6.5 in coco or 5.5–6.0 in hydro.

Feed Chart
BioNova Vitasol · soil, coco and hydro · added to the feed
Stage Per 1 L Per 10 L
Microbe boost, any stage 0.25–0.5 ml 2.5–5 ml
Mid flowering 0.4–0.7 ml 4–7 ml
Final weeks of flowering 0.8–1 ml 8–10 ml
Note — BioNova's soil, coco and hydro schedules all use the same Vitasol rates, and their technical sheet allows up to 15 ml per 10 L in the final weeks. Set EC first, then adjust pH, once every base nutrient and additive is in the tank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Vitasol just molasses?

No. It is based on cane molasses but adds amino acids, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamins and a range of trace elements, at a consistent 1:1000 concentration.

Can I use Vitasol in a hydroponic system?

Yes — BioNova include it in their hydro and aero schedules. Because it contains sugars, keep reservoirs, lines and drippers clean so residue cannot build up.

When should I start using Vitasol?

From mid flowering, increasing the dose through the final weeks. A lower rate of 2.5–5 ml per 10 L can be used at any stage to feed root-zone microbes.

Can I spray Vitasol on the leaves?

No. BioNova advise against foliar use, so add it to the root feed only.
