Catch a Reservoir Leak Before It Reaches the Floor

The Bloomroom Flexi-Mat is a waterproof catchment tray that sits underneath a grow tent, hydroponic system or nutrient tank and holds a spill where it happens. The body is a resilient waterproof sheet, and a demountable frame of legs and feet raises a 20cm wall on all four sides. A fitted drain tap lets you run the contents off into a bucket rather than bailing by hand, and the whole thing folds flat between runs instead of taking up rigid tray space. Three footprints cover everything from a single tent to a full room: 115 x 115cm, 195 x 95cm and 290 x 290cm.

Water Damage From One Failed Fitting

A split tank, a perished grommet or a dripper line that works loose will empty a reservoir across the floor over a few hours, and it almost always happens overnight. On a suspended timber floor that is a ceiling repair underneath; in a rented property it is the deposit. Large-reservoir systems such as Wilma, AutoPot and IWS hold more than enough water to do that damage in a single failure. The useful comparison is the capacity above against the volume of your own tank - where the tray comfortably exceeds it, a total loss stays inside the tray and leaves through the tap.

How to Use

• Size it: match the footprint to the tent or system and leave a margin all round, so run-off lands inside the wall rather than on its edge
• Check the floor first: water weighs 1kg per litre, so a tray containing a failed 200 litre reservoir puts 200kg in one place - site it over a solid floor or across joists, never on a single board
• Assemble: fit the legs and feet to raise the sides, which takes a few minutes
• Position: set it down level before the tent, system or tank goes on top
• Drain: open the tap and run the water off, then dry the sheet before folding it away
