Description
Add Another Feed Line to Your Dosatron Hobby System
The Dosatron Hobby Expansion Doser is a single D15RE05 water-powered injector – the same unit used four times over in the Dosatron Hobby Cultivator – sold on its own so you can add another nutrient or additive line. The standard Hobby system runs four dosers; add expansion units to match any multi-part feed chart, up to eight in total. It needs no electricity: water pressure drives the piston, which draws concentrate at a set 0.5–5 ml per litre in direct proportion to the water flowing through it.
Key Benefits
- Adjustable 0.5–5 ml/L (1:2000 to 1:200), set on the injection sleeve
- Proportional dosing – the dose follows the flow, so concentration holds from 1.9 to 18.9 L/min
- Water-powered, with no pumps, wiring or controllers to fail
- Matches the Hobby system – the same 3/4-inch connections, flow and pressure range as the four-pump base unit
- Handles most programmes: liquid and powder fertilisers, concentrated organics, enzymes and beneficial bacteria, pH up or down and line cleaning
- Stack for strong concentrates – two dosers drawing from one stock reach rates above 5 ml/L
When Your Feed Chart Outgrows Four Injectors
A base nutrient, a bloom booster, a silicate, a root stimulant and a pH adjuster is already five parts – one more than the standard Hobby system doses. Measuring the extra part by hand brings back the mixing errors and drifting nutrient ratios the injectors were bought to remove, and those show up in the plants as poor nutrient uptake, deficiencies or lockout. An expansion doser keeps every part on the same automated, proportional dose.
How to Use
- Wrap every male thread with at least five turns of thread tape and join the doser to your system with a union – all unions facing the same way, and water following the flow arrow on the unit
- Mount it above the stock solution, never below, to prevent siphoning
- Fit the suction hose and weighted foot filter and lower it into the concentrate
- Prime: set the injection rate to maximum and run water until concentrate reaches the injection stem, then turn the water off
- Set the rate: loosen the lock nut, turn the injection sleeve to your ml/L figure and re-tighten
- Above 5 ml/L: run two dosers from the same stock, each set to half the target rate
- Check EC and pH of the outgoing solution after every change

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it on its own?
Yes. Each Hobby doser is a complete water-powered injector, so one unit can dose a single concentrate inline. Sold as an expansion unit, it is usually added to the four-pump Hobby Cultivator.
How many dosers can one Hobby system run?
Up to eight in total – the four in the base system plus up to four expansion units.
Do I need a mixing chamber?
No. Dosatron designed the Hobby pumps to blend properly without one, although a mixing chamber kit can be added.
What maintenance does it need?
Dosatron recommend an annual seal service to keep it dosing accurately.
Is it suitable for a commercial site?
Dosatron rate the Hobby range for home and hobby grows – roughly 4 to 24 lights, or a dozen to a few hundred plants. Their professional Nutrient Delivery System range is built for commercial, all-day use.
