Description

Hold CO2 at your target level instead of guessing a dose

The Ecotechnics Evolution CO2 Controller is a microprocessor CO2 controller for grow rooms and glasshouses. It runs either bottled CO2 through a regulator or a propane or natural-gas CO2 generator, and doses in stages to reach and hold the level you set. With the optional Evolution NDIR CO2 analyser it reads the room and works closed-loop; without it, it can be interfaced to an external thermostat or hygrostat – Ecotechnics' entry-level route, with an easy upgrade later. Choose Controller Only, or the Regulator Only: the Ecotechnics bottled-gas regulator that fits your CO2 cylinder and is wired to the controller (it also suits the Ecotechnics Unis controller).

Key Benefits

  • Intelligent multi-stage dosing – adds CO2 in steps to hold the set level rather than flooding the room
  • Bottled CO2 or a burner – runs a cylinder regulator or a propane / natural-gas generator
  • With or without the analyser – add the Evolution NDIR sensor (not included) for full ppm control
  • Fan control and a day/night sensor – co-ordinates with extraction and doses only when the lights are on
  • Fully programmable in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish
  • Matching Ecotechnics regulator with gauge and solenoid, built for the Evolution and Unis controllers

Plants stalling once the room is sealed?

Outdoor air carries roughly 300–400 ppm of CO2, and fast-growing plants in a closed room can use all of it in under an hour – after that, photosynthesis and growth slow almost to a stop however good the light is. Topping the room up to a controlled level keeps photosynthesis running through the light period, and a controller stops the two expensive mistakes: wasting gas while extraction pulls it out, and overdosing a sealed room.

How to Use

  • Bottled CO2: fit the regulator to the cylinder and connect its solenoid to the controller
  • CO2 generator: connect the burner to the controller instead – the regulator is not needed
  • If you use the analyser, place it centrally at canopy height; a circulation fan near the outlet helps spread the gas
  • Set the target level and let the day/night sensor limit dosing to the light period
  • Run it in a sealed or low-extraction room – constant extraction removes the CO2 as fast as it is added
  • Follow Ecotechnics' printed user guide for wiring and set-up

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the CO2 analyser?

Not to start. Without it the controller works with an external thermostat or hygrostat; adding the Evolution NDIR analyser lets it read the room and hold an exact ppm level.

Bottled gas or a generator?

Either. Bottled CO2 needs the regulator (the Regulator Only option) on the cylinder; a propane or natural-gas generator connects straight to the controller and needs no regulator.

Can I run it with my extraction on?

It works best in a sealed or low-extraction room. With constant extraction most of the CO2 is pulled out, so use the controller's fan control to co-ordinate extraction and dosing.

Does the regulator fit the Ecotechnics Unis?

Yes – the Ecotechnics bottled-gas regulator is made for both the Evolution and the Unis CO2 controllers.
