Essentials LAB pH Down 30% is a 30% phosphoric acid solution for lowering the pH of nutrient solutions in hydroponics, coco and soil feeding. It is concentrated enough to bring down large volumes of nutrient solution with small, controlled doses, yet at 30% it sits below the concentration threshold for regulated substances under the Control of Poisons and Explosives Precursors Regulations 2023. Why does pH matter so much?

Most nutrients are only available to roots within a narrow pH window. UK tap water and many base feeds leave the solution too alkaline, and above that window iron, manganese and phosphorus lock out - showing up as yellowing new growth, slow growth and poor nutrient uptake even when the feed is right. Bringing the tank back into range with a measured dose of pH Down puts those nutrients back within reach.

How to Use

• Mix your nutrients first, then check the pH with a calibrated pH meter.
• Add a small, measured amount of pH Down to the reservoir and stir thoroughly - it is concentrated, so start low.
• Re-test and repeat in small steps until you reach your target (typically pH 5.5-6.2 for hydro and coco, 6.0-6.5 for soil).
• Never add it neat to concentrated nutrient, and wear gloves and eye protection when handling.
