Description

Keep heat and light inside the grow room

FLIRmask Thermal Reflection Sheeting is a British-made, two-layer reflective insulation for lining grow rooms, tents and growing structures. The outer face is a 98% pure aluminium laminate that reflects light back to the crop across the full spectrum; behind it, a woven E-glass layer insulates the space so heat stays where it is produced instead of soaking into brick, block and roof. Across a fully lined room, FLIRmask reflects 70–80% of radiated heat back into the space. It is made in the UK by ATL Transformers as a heat-shielding fabric and is only 0.22 mm thick, yet far tougher than PET or Mylar film.

Key Benefits

  • Insulates as well as reflects – the glass-fibre layer cuts heat loss through walls and ceilings, lowering heating costs.
  • 98% aluminium face – high, even reflectance with a textured surface that diffuses light and avoids hot spots.
  • Heat and flame resistant – temperature resistance to 500°C, melting point above 650°C.
  • Resists mould, algae and chemicals and can be washed, so it keeps working in humid rooms.
  • Tough – puncture and tear resistant, cuts cleanly with scissors without fraying.
  • 100% light-proof – no light gets through the lining.

Why ordinary reflective film falls short

Thin Mylar and metallised PET films reflect light but do almost nothing for temperature: heat drains through them into the building, so heaters work harder and the room swings between day and night. They also crease, bubble and tear when cleaned, and grow mould in high humidity. FLIRmask holds its shape, keeps heat in and stays clean, which steadies the climate plants grow in.

How to Use

  • Glass side to the wall, reflective aluminium side facing into the room.
  • Cover every surface – walls and ceiling – as gaps let heat escape.
  • Overlap each run and seal the joints with aluminium tape; staple or batten for a permanent fit.
  • Cut to size with ordinary scissors.
  • Wipe or wash to clean between grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which side faces the plants?

The aluminium side faces into the room. The woven glass side goes against the wall or ceiling, which is how FLIRmask both reflects light and stops heat escaping into the structure.

How do I join the sheets?

Overlap each run and seal along the overlap with aluminium tape; staples or battens suit a permanent room. Leave no gaps, as any opening lets heat leak out.

Is it safe near lights and heaters?

It is far more heat resistant than plastic films – temperature resistance to 500°C and a melting point above 650°C – and it resists flame, though lamps should still be fitted to their own clearance guidance.

Will it go mouldy in a humid room?

No. The surface resists mould, algae, fluids and chemicals, and can be washed down between grows.
