Description

Turn a bare wall into growing space

The Garden HighPro ProPot Wall is a fabric wall planter for building an easy-to-look-after living wall, indoors or outdoors. Rows of breathable fabric pockets hang flat against a wall, fence, shed or grow room panel, and a waterproof back and sides keep the moisture in the pockets rather than on the surface behind. Choose 8 pockets (two columns of four, about 60 x 100cm) or 12 pockets (three columns of four, about 90 x 100cm), made from a heavy 260g/m² fabric that is strong enough to reuse season after season. Herbs, salad leaves, strawberries, trailing flowers and foliage plants all suit it.

Key Benefits

  • Breathable active fabric – roots that reach the side of a pocket are air-pruned instead of circling, for a denser, more fibrous root system.
  • Waterproof back and sides protect the wall behind and help stop roots sitting over-saturated.
  • 8 or 12 planting pockets in rows of four – real growing space that takes up no floor area.
  • Heavy 260g/m² fabric – very strong and reusable.
  • Indoor or outdoor – balconies, fences, sheds, conservatories and grow rooms.
  • Eyelets along the edges for fixing to screws, hooks or a frame.

Root Circling and Waterlogging in Small Containers

In small hard-sided pots, roots that hit the wall turn and circle until the plant is pot-bound, and a pot without enough airflow can stay waterlogged around the roots. Fabric pockets let air through the sides, so root tips are pruned at the edge and the plant pushes out fresh feeder roots instead – better root development, better nutrient uptake and plants that cope with being grown in a small volume of compost.

How to Use

  • Fix it securely through the eyelets to a sound wall, fence or frame, allowing for the full weight of wet compost and plants.
  • Fill each pocket with a light, free-draining potting mix or coco, firm it gently and plant.
  • Water little and often, slowly enough for each pocket to soak it up; the top row dries out first, so check it daily in warm weather.
  • Feed regularly with a diluted liquid fertiliser during active growth, as small pockets hold only a small nutrient reserve.
  • Between seasons, empty the pockets, brush the fabric clean and let it dry before storing or replanting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will water run down my wall?

The back and sides are waterproof, which protects the wall behind. Any excess water seeps out through the fabric at the front and base of the pockets, so water slowly and hang it where the odd drip will not matter.

Can I use it outside?

Yes – Garden HighPro make the ProPot Wall for indoor and outdoor growing. Outdoors, check the top pockets often in sun and wind, as they dry out fastest.

What grows well in it?

Compact and shallow-rooted plants: herbs, salad leaves, strawberries, trailing bedding and foliage plants. Leave large or deep-rooted crops to bigger containers.
