Description

The air pump, airstones and airline to run your Green Man pots

A Green Man Air Kit supplies everything on the air side of a Green Man Combi system: the air pump, 4-inch airstones and 4mm airline, with a steel manifold on the larger kits. In a Combi pot the air does two jobs at once. Through the airstone it oxygenates the reservoir under the basket, and through the air-powered pumping column it lifts solution up to the watering ring round the stem. Each kit is matched to a number of Combi pots, from Air Kit 2 for a two-pot system up to Air Kit 12, and because Flood & Drain pots only need an airstone in the reservoir, the larger kits run twice as many airstones on a Green Man FD system.

What's Included

  • Air Kit 2: adjustable air pump, two 4" airstones, 30m of 4mm airline
  • Air Kit 4: adjustable four-outlet air pump, four 4" airstones, 30m of 4mm airline
  • Air Kit 6: ET40 linear air pump, 12-way steel manifold, six 4" airstones, 30m of 4mm airline
  • Air Kit 9: ET60 linear air pump, 18-way steel manifold, nine 4" airstones, 60m of 4mm airline
  • Air Kit 12: ET80 linear air pump, 24-way steel manifold, twelve 4" airstones, 60m of 4mm airline

Key Benefits

  • Sized to the system: one kit per Green Man system size, so the pump is neither starved nor oversized.
  • Air does the pumping: the same air that oxygenates each pot also lifts the feed, so there is no water pump in the pots.
  • Adjustable output on Air Kits 2 and 4 lets you fine-tune the watering speed and the oxygen reaching each reservoir.
  • ET linear pumps on Air Kits 6, 9 and 12, built for long, continuous running, with the ET80 rated at 80 L/min.
  • Steel manifolds with a tap on every outlet, so each line can be balanced individually.
  • Double capacity on Flood & Drain: up to 12, 18 or 24 airstones from Air Kits 6, 9 and 12.

Why Air Matters in the Root Zone

Roots sitting in still, warm solution quickly run short of dissolved oxygen, and that is where weak roots, root rot and poor nutrient uptake start. A steady stream of fine bubbles keeps the solution moving and oxygenated round the clock, which is why the pump in a Green Man system runs continuously rather than on a timer.

How to Use

  • Set the pump above the level of the solution, or fit a non-return valve in each line, so liquid cannot siphon back into the pump if it stops.
  • On a Combi system run two lines per pot, one to the airstone and one to the pumping column; on Flood & Drain run one line to each airstone.
  • Cut the airline cleanly to length and push it fully onto each outlet or manifold tap.
  • Use the pump's dial or the manifold taps to balance the flow until every watering ring runs evenly.
  • Clean or replace the airstones between runs, as clogged stones cut the airflow.
