Grodan Vital Rockwool Slab for Precision Hydroponic Growing

Grodan Vital is a stone wool slab built on NG2.0 technology, aimed at growers running tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and aubergines on a precision schedule. The vertical fibre structure distributes water and feed evenly through the slab, so moisture and EC readings stay consistent from one end to the other and from slab to slab. It re-saturates quickly across a wide steering range, which gives you room to run drier or wetter without the substrate fighting you.

When the Substrate Is the Variable You Cannot See

You can dial in your feed to the decimal point and still get uneven plants if the slabs themselves hold water differently. Dry corners, saturated ends and slab-to-slab drift all show up as crop variation long before you trace them back to the medium. A slab engineered for uniform distribution takes that variable off the table, so the readings you take on one plant tell you something useful about the rest of the row.

How to Use

• Saturate the slab fully with pH-corrected nutrient solution before planting.
• Allow it to drain and stabilise, then cut drainage slits to suit your irrigation strategy.
• Seat blocks or plants firmly on the slab so roots make good contact.
• Monitor slab EC and water content daily and steer with irrigation frequency.
• Use for a single crop cycle, then replace.
