Description
One broad-spectrum spray for the mixed pests that turn up together
Guard'n'Aid PestOFF Plus Concentrate is a contact insecticide based on natural pyrethrum in a rapeseed oil formulation, made for Guard'n'Aid by W. Neudorff and registered in the UK under MAPP 18581. Where Guard'n'Aid's Thrips and Spider Mite sprays each target one pest, PestOFF Plus is the broad-spectrum member of the range: it is made for whitefly, aphids, thrips, mites, scale insects, caterpillars, mealybug, wool bug, beetles and some wasp larvae, and the maker states it works on adults, larvae and eggs. The concentrate makes up 22 x 750ml sprays of diluted solution.
Key Benefits
- Broad spectrum - one spray for sucking and biting insects, useful when more than one pest is present or you have not yet identified it
- Adults, larvae and eggs - the maker states it acts on all three stages
- Natural actives - pyrethrum from dried pyrethrum-daisy flowers plus rapeseed oil; the maker notes both appear on the EU positive list for ecological farming (EEC 2092/91)
- Concentrated - makes 22 x 750ml ready-to-spray mixes
- UK registered - MAPP 18581, registration holder HydroGarden
Sticky leaves, pale stippling and curled new growth
Sap-sucking pests such as aphids, whitefly, thrips and spider mites leave sticky honeydew, pale speckling and distorted new growth, and they multiply quickly in the warm, still air of a grow tent, greenhouse or conservatory. Pyrethrum works on contact, so it only acts on the insects the spray actually reaches: thorough coverage, especially of leaf undersides and growing tips, decides the result, and a follow-up spray catches insects that hatch after the first one.
How to Use
- Mixing: about 11ml of concentrate per 750ml of water (roughly 15ml per litre) - the rate that gives the maker's 22 sprays. Shake the concentrate well before measuring
- Application: spray as a fine mist to cover every plant surface, paying close attention to leaf undersides, stems and new growth
- Timing: spray in the evening or with the lights off, never onto leaves sitting under hot running lamps
- Repeat: follow the interval and the maximum number of treatments printed on the label
- Safety: use pesticides safely - always read the label and product information before use, and use the product only on the plants and situations the label lists

Frequently Asked Questions
How is PestOFF Plus different from Guard'n'Aid for Thrips or for Spider Mite?
All three are pyrethrum and rapeseed-oil contact sprays from the same maker. The Thrips and Spider Mite versions are each aimed at one pest; PestOFF Plus covers a much wider list, so it is the one to choose for a mixed infestation or when you have not yet identified what is attacking your plants.
Does it kill eggs as well as adult insects?
The maker states it is effective against adult insects, larval stages and eggs. Because it works on contact, eggs and larvae have to be wetted by the spray, so cover leaf undersides thoroughly and repeat as the label allows.
What should I spray it with?
Any clean trigger or pressure sprayer that gives a fine mist. The dose is designed around a 750ml trigger bottle; a pump sprayer makes it quicker to cover a whole tent or greenhouse.
Which plants can I use it on?
Check the product label before use and treat only the plants and situations it lists, following its directions on dose, intervals and the number of applications.
