A fresh membrane returns the unit to 98-99% dissolved-solids rejection and its full 284 litres per day of output, restoring the low-PPM baseline your feed programme is built on.

When output drops or PPM starts creeping up

An RO membrane does not fail all at once. It fouls slowly, and the first signs are a rising PPM reading on the product water and a tank that takes noticeably longer to fill. Left alone, that drift quietly changes the starting point of every nutrient mix you make, so an EC you have dialled in over months stops behaving. Swapping the membrane is the fix, and on a system running mains water it is normally a 6 to 18 month job. Always renew the KDF85/carbon pre-filter alongside it, because chlorine passing an exhausted pre-filter is what shortens a membrane's life in the first place.

How to Use

• Turn off the feed water and release system pressure before opening the housing.
• Unscrew the membrane housing cap and withdraw the spent element.
• Fit the new membrane with the double O-ring end first, seating it fully into the socket.
• Refit the cap, restore water and flush to drain for 10-15 minutes before collecting any product water.
• Renew the KDF85/carbon pre-filter at the same time for the longest membrane life.
• Check output PPM with a meter once flushed to confirm rejection has returned.
