Description

Quiet, thermostat-controlled background heat for tents, greenhouses and grow rooms

The Hylite Slimline Ecoheater is a low-wattage tubular heater with a built-in thermostat, made to keep a small space frost-free and dry without the running cost or air blast of a fan heater. It comes in five lengths from 28W to 190W, and every one can be wall mounted or floor standing on the brackets supplied.

Key Benefits

  • Built-in thermostat – a dial on the control end switches the element on and off automatically, with a red indicator light, so it only draws power when it needs to.
  • Low running cost – from 28W up to 190W, a small fraction of a 2kW fan heater, so it can run through the night all winter.
  • Wall or floor mounting – fixing brackets and floor stands are both in the box, with a 1.5m cable and fitted UK plug.
  • IP44 rated – protected against splashing, so it suits the damp, humid air of grow tents, greenhouses and sheds.
  • Automatic safety cut-out – a heat-sensitive cut-out switches the heater off if it overheats.
  • Silent radiant heat – no fan, no noise and no draught blowing across foliage.

Cold Nights, Damp Air and Stalled Growth

When an unheated tent, garage or greenhouse drops in temperature overnight, vegetative growth slows, roots take up water and nutrients sluggishly, and seedlings and cuttings can stall altogether. Cold air also leaves moisture sitting on leaves and surfaces, pushing up the humidity that mould and mildew need. A tube heater running quietly at low level holds the background temperature up and sets a gentle convection current moving, so the space stays frost-free and drier through the colder months without being overheated.

How to Use

  • Position: fix it low on a wall or stand it on the floor, clear of foliage, tent walls, fabric and anything flammable – the tube surface can reach 83°C. Keep it out of the direct spray of misters and irrigation.
  • Set the thermostat: the thermostat reads the heater's own temperature. On the lowest setting it switches on when the tube cools below about 20°C and off at around 50°C; on the highest it stays on up to its 83°C maximum. Start low and turn it up until the space holds the minimum temperature you want.
  • Choose the length: a longer tube gives more heat. For a bigger space, two shorter tubes spread along the floor heat more evenly than one long one in a corner.
  • Guard it: where people, pets or plants could touch the tube, fit a heater guard.
