Description
Read Moisture and EC Inside the Pot, Not Just in the Tank
The iBebot SoilQuality Sensor is a battery-powered probe that sits in the pot and logs soil moisture and electrical conductivity (EC), then syncs the readings to the free iBebot Growers app on iOS and Android over Bluetooth. Moisture is read by capacitive sensing from 0% to 70% by volume, and EC from 0 to 10 mS/cm, with up to 25,000 readings stored on the probe. It shares the same app as the iBebot AirComfort temperature and humidity sensor, so root-zone and air data sit together.
Key Benefits
- Moisture and EC in one probe - 0-70% volumetric moisture at 0.1% resolution and 0-10 mS/cm EC at 0.001 mS/cm
- Logs on its own - up to 25,000 readings held on the probe between syncs
- Up to 1.5 years on one AAA battery at a 20-minute interval
- IPX5 water resistant for watering and feeding in the pot
- Custom alerts for minimum moisture and EC, so you know when a pot is drying out or the root zone is running lean
Overwatering, Underwatering and Salt Build-Up
Most watering mistakes are timing mistakes. Water too often and the roots sit in saturated soil with little oxygen, which slows root development and invites root rot; leave it too long and growth stalls under drought stress. EC tells the other half of the story - a steadily rising figure in the pot means salts are building up and nutrient uptake suffers, while a falling one means the plants are using the feed faster than you are replacing it. A logged trend shows both before the leaves do.
How to Use
- Insert the probe into the soil in the root zone, partway between the stem and the edge of the pot, so the sensing tip is fully covered.
- Pair it with the iBebot Growers app over Bluetooth (up to 10 m) and set a refresh interval.
- Set minimum moisture and EC levels for alerts. iBebot do not publish targets - use your nutrient maker's feed chart for EC.
- After changing the battery, sync in the app to restart the scheduled recording.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it in coco?
iBebot designed it for soil. EC reads normally in coco, but because coco holds far more water than soil the moisture reading tends to sit above its 70% ceiling, so iBebot do not recommend it for coco growers.
Do I need the AirComfort sensor as well?
No - the probe works on its own in the Growers app. Adding an AirComfort sensor puts air temperature and humidity in the same app beside your root-zone readings.
Can I check readings remotely?
Over Bluetooth you need to be within about 10 m to sync. The iBebot Hub, a Wi-Fi bridge included in the AirComfort Wireless Full Kit, uploads readings so you can view them from anywhere.
What moisture and EC should I aim for?
iBebot leave targets to nutrient makers and growers. Use your feed chart for EC, and use the logged moisture curve to find the point at which your plants need water.
