Description

Blue-rich, low-heat light that keeps seedlings short and sturdy

The LUMii EnviroGro 300W Super Cool CFL Lamp is a 300W compact fluorescent (CFL) grow lamp with a very blue-rich 14000K "Super Cool" colour temperature, made for seedlings, cuttings and early vegetative growth. LUMii build their CFLs as the low-energy option for the grow room: high-output fluorescent lamps that run at a modest wattage and give off far less heat than HID lighting, so this one can hang close over propagators and young plants without drying them out. It has a standard E40 screw cap with its control gear built in, so it runs from a simple E40 lampholder lead – no ballast needed.

Key Benefits

  • 14000K Super Cool spectrum – blue-weighted light that keeps seedlings and cuttings compact.
  • 300W of low-heat light – hang it close without scorching leaves or drying out propagation media.
  • Low-energy option – a lighter running cost than an HID light where full power is not needed.
  • No ballast required – the control gear is built into the lamp.
  • Standard E40 cap – screws into an E40 lampholder lead or a CFL reflector rated for 300W.

Stretched, Weak Seedlings?

Given too little light, or light that is too far away, seedlings and fresh cuttings stretch – long gaps between leaves, thin stems and plants that topple when they are potted on. Blue-rich light keeps internodes short and stems thick, and because a CFL runs cool it can be brought close enough to deliver real intensity to the trays. Compact young plants with healthy root development settle faster and handle transplant shock far better than leggy ones.

How to Use

  • Fit it into an E40 lampholder rated for a 300W lamp – a CFL lead and lampholder, or a reflector rated for a 300W CFL.
  • Hang it cap-up over the trays, starting around 15–30 cm above seedlings or cuttings; raise it if leaves pale or curl.
  • Run it on a timer – 16–18 hours a day suits seedlings, cuttings and young vegetative plants.
  • Handle it cold – switch off and let the lamp cool before moving it, and keep water away from the lamp and holder.

Frequently Asked Questions

What lampholder do I need?

An E40 lampholder rated for at least 300W, such as our CFL Lead & Lampholder (E40 socket, 4 m lead, UK plug). If you use a CFL reflector, check it is rated for a 300W lamp – many are only rated to 200W.

Does it need a ballast?

No. Like all CFLs its control gear is built into the base, so it runs straight from a mains-powered E40 lampholder.

Can I use it for flowering?

It is not the right lamp for that. 14000K is a very blue spectrum made for seedlings, cuttings and early vegetative growth; flowering and fruiting crops need a warmer, redder light such as a 2700K-class lamp, or a CMH or LED fixture.

How close can it hang?

Closer than an HID lamp, because it runs cool – around 15–30 cm above seedlings and cuttings is a good starting point. Raise it if the leaves nearest the lamp pale or curl.
