Spread One 315W CMH Lamp Evenly Across the Canopy
The Maxibright Daylight 315W V3 Single Reflector is the third-generation shade from Maxibright's Daylight CMH (ceramic metal halide) system – the same reflector supplied in the Daylight 315W Single Lighting System, sold here on its own as a replacement or for a self-built setup. It takes one 315W CMH/CDM lamp in the included PGZ18 lamp holder, has a fitted lead to run from a separate 315W ballast, and measures 49 x 44 x 22 cm. Maxibright redesigned the V3 for improved light coverage over the earlier Daylight shades.

Hotspots and Uneven Growth Under a Bare Lamp
A 315W CMH lamp gives a broad, sunlight-like spectrum, but without a well-shaped reflector much of that light escapes sideways or piles into a bright spot directly beneath the bulb. Plants at the edges stretch towards the light while those in the centre take the heat, and the canopy grows unevenly. The V3's shaped, textured insert sends that stray light back down onto the crop, so a single lamp lights around 1.0 x 1.0 m evenly in flowering and up to about 1.2 x 1.2 m in vegetative growth.
How to Use
- Isolate the power and let any lamp cool fully before working on the fixture
- Fit the lamp: push a 315W CMH/CDM lamp with a PGZ18 base into the holder, handling the glass with clean gloves or a cloth
- Connect the lead to a 315W CMH ballast – a standard HPS or MH ballast will not run a CMH lamp
- Hang it level above the canopy on rope ratchets and raise it as plants grow so the tops never feel hot under the lamp

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come with a lamp or ballast?
No. This is the reflector with its PGZ18 lamp holder and lead. It needs a 315W CMH ballast and a 315W CMH lamp, both sold separately.
Will it take an E40 HPS or MH lamp?
No. The PGZ18 holder is made for single-ended 315W CMH lamps such as the Maxibright and Philips Daylight 315W lamps, and those must run on a dedicated CMH ballast.
Single or twin?
This is the single-lamp reflector. For two 315W lamps in one fixture there is the Maxibright 315W Twin Daylight Reflector, which needs two ballasts.
