Description
Lift Your Flood Trays to a Steady 40 cm Working Height
The Metal Grow Bench Frame is an open grow table stand that raises a flood tray, drip tray or a run of pots 40 cm off the grow room floor. It comes in four footprints – 80 × 80 cm, 100 × 100 cm, 120 × 120 cm and a long 200 × 100 cm bench – sized to carry the common square grow trays, with the long frame taking a 2 × 1 m tray or two 1 m square trays side by side. Cross bars run between the side rails to support the floor of the tray, so a full, wet tray sits flat rather than sagging between the rails. The bench is a frame only: the trays shown in the images are there to show how they sit and are not included. It arrives flat-packed and bolts together.
Key Benefits
- 40 cm working height – trays and plants come up off a cold floor and are easier to water, prune and inspect.
- Four footprints – 80, 100 and 120 cm square frames plus a 200 × 100 cm bench with centre legs for longer rows.
- Cross-braced top – support bars under the tray floor stop a loaded tray bowing.
- Open underneath – room for a drain line, a run-off container or a low reservoir below the tray.
- Matches standard trays – sized for square grow trays of the same footprint.
- Metal construction – a rigid, level base for a loaded tray.
Trays on the Floor: Cold Roots, Pooling Water and Poor Airflow
A tray resting on the floor or balanced on blocks sits in the coolest, dampest layer of air in the room, is hard to keep level and gives the run-off nowhere to fall, so water pools at one end and the medium stays wet. Raising it on a level frame lets air move under and around the root zone, gives a drain fitting a straight drop to a waste container or back to the reservoir, and brings the canopy up to a height where routine work is not done on your knees. An even, well-drained tray keeps root development and nutrient uptake consistent from one end of the bench to the other, and lifting plants clear of the floor helps keep humidity and pests in check.
How to Use
- Measure the tray first – choose the frame that matches its outside footprint.
- Assemble on a flat floor – bolt the rails, cross bars and legs together before moving the frame into place.
- Stand the frame on a level floor and check it with a spirit level before loading.
- Seat the tray so its rim rests evenly on the side rails and its floor sits on the cross bars.
- Plumb the drain – fit a drain outlet at the low corner and run pipe down to a waste container or back to the reservoir.
- Load pots or slabs once the tray is level; keep heavy reservoirs on the floor, not on the frame.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a tray included?
No. The bench is the frame only; the trays in the images show how they sit on it. Order a tray whose outside footprint matches the frame.
Which tray fits which frame?
The 80, 100 and 120 cm frames are sized for square trays of the same footprint, such as our Garland 80, 100 and 120 cm trays, and the 200 × 100 cm frame takes a 2 × 1 m tray or two 1 m square trays side by side. Tray sizes vary slightly between makers, so measure the outside edge of yours before ordering.
Will it fit inside a grow tent?
Pick a frame smaller than the tent's internal floor so the poles and walls are clear – for example, the 80 × 80 cm frame in a 100 × 100 cm tent or the 100 × 100 cm frame in a 120 × 120 cm tent.
What goes underneath?
The 40 cm clearance leaves room for a drain line, a run-off container or a low reservoir, which makes a simple drain-to-waste or recirculating flood table easy to set up.
