Description
Timer-fed drip irrigation for four plants on a 60 x 60 cm footprint
The Nutriculture Origin Small, sold for years as the Wilma Small 4, is a complete recirculating drip irrigation system for four plants. The pots sit in moulded slots on a 60 x 60 cm support tray, the tray sits over a 30-litre nutrient tank, and a NEWA Maxi 500 submersible pump, switched by your timer, sends solution to a dripper in every pot. Whatever the medium does not hold drains back into the tank, drawing fresh air into the root zone as it goes. Feeding little and often like this avoids the dry-then-sodden swing of hand watering that leaves roots short of oxygen and nutrient uptake patchy, so plants grow on evenly with strong root development. It runs with clay pebbles, coco, soil or rockwool, and because each pot is independent you can turn, move or replace one plant without disturbing the others.
Choose Your Pot Size
- 4 x 6L Pots: for herbs, leafy crops and compact plants, or quick crops where a smaller root zone is all you need.
- 4 x 11L Pots: more root room and a bigger moisture buffer between feeds for larger, longer-season plants.
What's Included
- 30-litre nutrient tank
- Origin Small 4 support tray, 60 x 60 cm
- 4 pots in your chosen size
- NEWA Maxi 500 submersible pump
- Delivery tube with a nutrient mixing tap
- 4 dripper tubes, 4 black arrow drippers and 4 blue flood drippers
Key Benefits
- Little-and-often feeding on a timer, so roots get water, nutrients and oxygen in balance instead of swinging between wet and dry
- Two dripper types supplied: blue flood drippers (about 40 L/h) for clay pebbles and rockwool cubes, black arrow drippers (2 L/h) for coco and soil
- One 30-litre tank to mix, check and top up for all four plants
- Built-in mixing tap: open it after a nutrient change and run the pump for 5 minutes to stir the whole tank
- Anti-leak design: each pot fits snugly into a sized slot on a tray that sits over the reservoir
- Made in the UK by Nutriculture, mostly from recycled plastic, and hand-finished and inspected
How to Use
- Set up: stand the tank on a level surface that can take its full weight, sit the tray on top and fit the delivery tube so the mixing tap faces the tank access point.
- Drippers: soften the dripper tube in warm water before pushing it onto the fittings. Fit blue flood drippers for clay pebbles, rockwool cubes or PU foam, and black arrow drippers for coco, soil or Copito.
- Mix: fill the tank, add nutrients at the label rate, then open the tap and run the pump for 5 minutes before the first feed. Set EC and pH to your nutrient maker's guidance.
- Timer: run the pump on a 15-minute segmental timer (not included). As a starting point Nutriculture suggests 1 x 15 minutes a day for coco or soil and 2 x 15 minutes for mixed media or clay pebbles when plants go in; 2-3, 3 or 3-4 feeds a day respectively in vegetative growth; and 3-5, 4-5 or 4-6 feeds a day in flowering, never more than one feed an hour. Run young plants at about half nutrient strength.
- Maintain: never let the medium dry out completely, check the drippers now and then, and replace the solution completely every 14-21 days. Between crops, clean the system through with a weak acid solution or a system cleaner, then rinse it with clean water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Origin Small fit in a 60 x 60 cm grow tent?
The tray is the full 60 x 60 cm, so it needs a tent floor at least that size on the inside, and many 60 cm tents are only just big enough. Measure first; an 80 x 80 cm tent leaves room to reach the mixing tap and the drippers.
Should I choose 6L or 11L pots?
Both use the same tray, 30-litre tank and delivery system. 6 L pots suit herbs, leafy crops and smaller plants; 11 L pots hold more medium and moisture, which suits bigger plants and longer crops and gives more margin between feeds.
Is the Origin the same system as the Wilma?
Yes. Nutriculture renamed its Wilma range Origin. The Origin Small is the former Wilma Small 4, with the same pots-on-a-tray-over-a-tank design.
What else do I need to run it?
A timer for the pump, your nutrients and growing medium, and a pH and EC meter to check the tank. A drip-line cleaner such as House & Garden Drip Clean, used from the first fill, helps keep the drippers flowing.
