Description

Switch a Room Full of Lights From One Timer, Without Burning It Out

The POWER 12+2 Contactor Timer Panel schedules up to 12 appliances together from a single 24-hour segment timer. A built-in contactor does the actual switching, so the timer's own contacts never carry the load, and the panel is rated for a combined 40A maximum - built for grow rooms running several lights or other high inductive loads. Two extra sockets marked FAN are untimed and stay live around the clock for extraction and air circulation.

For bigger rooms, the POWER 16+2 Contactor Timer Panel works the same way with 16 timed outlets, the same 2 untimed FAN outlets and a combined rating of 80A, double that of the 12+2.

Key Benefits

  • 12 timed outlets switched together from one timer. The 16+2 panel switches 16.
  • 2 untimed FAN outlets that keep extraction running through lights-off.
  • Contactor switching stops timer contact burnout with high inductive loads such as ballasts and LED drivers.
  • 96 x 15-minute segments across 24 hours, with timed, continuously on and continuously off settings.
  • 40A maximum combined load for a full room of equipment. The 16+2 is rated to 80A.

Why Grow Lights Need a Contactor

Plug several ballasts or LED drivers straight into an ordinary plug-in timer and the inrush current at every switch-on pits and welds its contacts. Sooner or later the lights stick on or refuse to start, and an unreliable photoperiod stresses plants and throws out the whole schedule. A contactor panel sends that current through a heavy-duty relay instead, so the timer only has to give the signal and your light cycle stays on time.

How to Use

  • Hard-wired only: this is an electrical component that must be connected by a qualified electrician directly to a suitable supply from your distribution board. It cannot be fitted with a plug and run from a wall socket.
  • Set the light period by pushing down the timer segments, each worth 15 minutes.
  • Choose timed, continuously on or continuously off on the timer.
  • Plug lights into the 12 timed outlets and fans into the 2 FAN outlets. On the 16+2 there are 16 timed outlets.
  • Keep the combined load within 40A. On the 16+2 the limit is 80A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I plug the panel into a wall socket?

No. It is an electrical component that must be hard-wired by a qualified electrician to a suitable supply from your distribution board.

Which size do I need?

Count the lights you want on one schedule and add up their running current. The 12+2 takes up to 12 timed loads within 40A; the 16+2 takes up to 16 within 80A.

Are the FAN sockets switched by the timer?

No. The two FAN sockets are untimed and stay live all the time, so extraction and air circulation keep running through lights-off.

Is it suitable for LED drivers as well as ballasts?

Yes. It is made for high inductive loads, which includes ballasts and LED drivers, and the contactor protects the timer from their switch-on inrush current.
