The RAM CO2 Monitor and Controller is a 2-in-1 unit that reads the CO2 level in a grow room or sealed grow tent, shows it live on a large LCD screen and switches a CO2 source on and off to keep the room inside the band you set. You choose a target ppm and a zone either side of it, and the controller holds the room within that range. A day/night photocell on the remote sensor stops it releasing CO2 when the lights are off, a human mode runs your extraction to bring CO2 down when people need to be in the room, and a one-week log on screen shows how the room has behaved over the last seven days. CO2 Depletion Under Strong Lighting
Outdoor air holds around 400ppm of CO2. In a sealed or tightly controlled room, plants under strong lighting draw that down within hours of lights-on, and once it falls, photosynthesis and growth slow however well the plants are fed and watered. Topping the room back up, commonly to around 1,000–1,200ppm during the lights-on period, lets plants make full use of the light and copes better with warm conditions. Too much CO2, though, is wasted gas and a hazard to anyone working in the room. A controller that measures the air and releases CO2 only when the level falls below target keeps enrichment accurate, economical and safe.
How to Use
- Mount the controller on a wall where the screen is easy to read, out of direct spray and drips
- Place the sensor at canopy height on its 4.5m cable, away from the CO2 outlet and the extraction inlet, where the photocell can see the lights
- Connect your CO2 source – such as the solenoid of a CO2 release kit – to the controller output (maximum 5A at 240V)
- Set the target and zone in plant mode, for example a 1,200ppm target; the controller releases CO2 whenever the room drops below the zone
- Bottled CO2: use a vapour-release cylinder, check every joint with soapy water and run the release tube above the canopy – CO2 is heavier than air and sinks onto the plants
- Pause extraction while enriching, or the CO2 goes straight out of the room; switch to human mode before working inside

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a CO2 cylinder included?
No. The kit option includes the GasArc regulator, solenoid valve and 10m release tube; it fits a vapour-release CO2 cylinder (not a liquid-withdrawal, dip-tube cylinder), which you buy or rent separately.
Will it release CO2 at night?
No. The photocell on the sensor tells the controller when the lights are off, and it holds CO2 release until the lights come back on.
What does human mode do?
Instead of adding CO2, it switches the output to run your extraction and bring the level down, so the room is safer to work in.
Can I use it with the CO2 equipment I already have?
Yes. It is plug and play: the CO2 source you plug into it is switched on and off to hold your target, up to 5A at 240V.
