A pH Buffer Salt That Is Not a Plant Food At All
Blossom Blood is a specific type of pH buffer salt developed for stabilisation and floral production in hydroponic applications, and equally usable in soilless growing mediums. Added to a nutrient reservoir once flower buds are well established, it promotes fuller buds and flowers through selective pH control rather than by adding nutrition.
That distinction is the whole product. Blossom Blood is not a plant food and carries no NPK value on the label - Rambridge are blunt about this because look-alike products get sold in its place. If the label in front of you lists an NPK, it is a fertiliser, not Blossom Blood. Because it adds no nutrition of its own, it is compatible with all quality nutrients and slots into an existing schedule without rebalancing anything.
It has been on the market for over 25 years with consistent results, and it is unusually economical for what it does: 20 grams treats 200 litres of growing solution, which for most home and small-commercial reservoirs covers the whole of a flowering cycle.
Key Benefits
- Selective pH control that stabilises the reservoir through the critical flowering window
- Promotes fuller buds and flowers without adding nutrition to rebalance
- Compatible with all quality nutrients - it does not conflict with any base feed or booster
- Works in hydroponics and soilless media, and in soil or coco at a reduced rate
- 20 grams treats 200 litres of growing solution
- Over 25 years of consistent results behind the formulation
pH Drift in the Flowering Reservoir
Reservoir pH is at its least stable exactly when the plant can least afford it. As flowers set, uptake rates change fast and the solution starts swinging - and every swing outside the band means a group of nutrients briefly stops being available. Growers chase it with acid and alkali, which corrects the number but does nothing about the underlying instability. A buffer salt holds the solution steady between adjustments, so the plant gets uninterrupted access to what is already in the tank rather than a series of short lockouts nobody sees.
How to Use
- Start at half strength. The directions below are maximum strength and response varies between plant types - Rambridge recommend beginning with half the stated amount
- Hydroponics: add directly to the reservoir when flower buds are well established, at 1 gram per 10 litres of growing solution
- Hydroponics repeat: repeat once more 2 weeks later, or at the next nutrient change
- Soil and coco: dissolve 1 gram into 20 litres of water and apply half a litre per plant when flower buds are established
- Soil and coco repeat: repeat the procedure once more 2 weeks later
- Do not use as a foliar spray, and mix with fresh water only
