Grow-room odour control without the pro price tag

The Rhino Hobby Filter is a carbon filter built to neutralise and extract the strong smells that come with growing chillies, herbs, spices and other aromatic plants indoors. It uses the same Australian-mined RC412 virgin carbon as the pricier Rhino Pro range, packed as a tightly compressed 30mm carbon bed inside a lightweight aluminium drum, giving hobby growers a technically sophisticated, easy-to-fit filter at a fraction of the cost.

Air is drawn first through the washable pre-filter sleeve, which catches dust and leaf debris before it can clog the carbon, and then through the carbon bed itself, where the enormous internal surface area adsorbs odour molecules rather than masking them. Every filter ships with a reversible base and spigot duct, and the drum is light enough to hang inside a tent without loading the frame.

Smell Escaping and Airflow Dropping Off

Two things go wrong with cheap filtration. Extraction on its own just pushes odour-laden air outside where the neighbours can smell it, and a clogged sleeve chokes airflow so heat and humidity climb inside the tent. Fitted in-line, the Rhino Hobby draws every bit of exhaust through its RC412 carbon bed first, stripping out strong grow-room odours before the air ever leaves the tent. Flipping the base and spigot every 8-12 weeks spreads carbon use across the whole drum instead of exhausting one end, and rinsing the sleeve keeps extraction rates up so your fan is not fighting the filter.

How to Use

• Screw on the supplied spigot duct before first use, then hang the filter inside the tent
• Fit the filter in-line with your extraction fan and ducting so air is drawn through the carbon before it exhausts
• Match the filter's airflow rating and duct size to your fan for full odour scrubbing
• Every 8-12 weeks, remove the base and spigot, swap them to opposite ends and refit
• Rinse or replace the pre-filter sleeve regularly; a spare makes for a quick swap while the first dries
• Replace roughly every 9-12 months, sooner in a heavily used room as odour control tails off
