Sixty peat-free propagation plugs to refill your Root!T tray

This is the refill bag of dry, peat-free propagation plugs designed to top up a Root!T 60-hole propagator tray once the original set has been used, moulded from natural coco coir fibre rather than peat or rockwool. Each plug carries a stepped dibble hole in the top: a wider entry point sized for seed, and a narrower, deeper channel beneath it sized to take a cutting, so the same plug works for either propagation method without needing a different product for each.

Because the plugs are supplied dry, they store for a long time with no risk of mould developing in the bag, which makes them easy to keep as a standing item in the propagation cupboard rather than something that has to be used immediately after opening. Before use, plugs are steeped overnight in a solution of Root!T First Feed at 5ml per litre of water to fully hydrate them, at which point they are ready to take seed or a fresh cutting. The unique octagonal shape of the cells in the matching tray leaves a small air gap around each plug, which air-prunes new roots as they reach the cell wall and encourages faster, more branched root development once the cutting is potted on.

Being natural and biodegradable, the plugs break down harmlessly into the growing medium or soil once potted on, so there is nothing to remove or dispose of separately at transplant time.
