Why Do Cuttings Sit for Weeks Before Rooting?

A cutting has no roots and no way of replacing the water it loses, so every unrooted day runs down its reserves. Weak roots at this stage carry through as slow growth and poor nutrient uptake once the plant is potted on, and a tray that roots unevenly never catches up. Coating the cut immediately protects it from air and infection and gives root initials the conditions they need to form.

How to Use

• Prepare the plug first so the cutting can go straight in
• Decant a small amount into a clean pot and dip from that, never from the bottle, to avoid contaminating the rest
• Take the cutting with a clean, sharp blade, just below a node at an angle
• Dip the cut end until fully coated, then insert into the plug or medium without wiping the gel off
• Firm the plug gently and place in a propagator with a humid, stable environment
• Discard any decanted gel once the batch is done
