The Utility Ultra Zero is a fully submersible drainage pump that clears a tank down to a residual depth of just 2mm, moving up to 3000 litres per hour while it does it. The thermoplastic housing will not rust or corrode in nutrient solution, the ceramic shaft stands up to continuous duty, and the base removes without tools for cleaning. The outlet is a 3/4" male thread that suits a standard garden hose fitting - note that no adaptors are supplied, so add a quick-fit connector and hose end connector if you do not already have them.

The Sludge Left Behind by an Ordinary Pump
Most submersible pumps stop working with two or three centimetres still in the tank, and that last layer is the worst of it - settled sediment, salt build-up and organic residue that becomes a breeding ground for root pathogens. You then bail it out by hand or leave it in and contaminate the fresh mix. A pump that clears to 2mm turns a reservoir change into a genuinely clean start.
How to Use
- Fit a 3/4" connector and hose to the threaded outlet before use.
- Lower the pump flat onto the base of the tank and run the hose to a drain.
- Switch on and let it work down to the residual 2mm.
- Never run the pump dry - switch off as soon as the tank is clear.
- Remove the base and rinse the impeller area after each reservoir change.
