Description
Root 72 Cuttings in an Oxygen-Rich Spray, With No Dome to Manage
The Terra Aquatica HydroCloner Spinner 72 (sold by GHE as the RainForest 72) is an aeroponic propagator that roots up to 72 cuttings on a footprint of just 67 × 67 cm. Beneath the lid, the Vortex spinning motor from Terra Aquatica's original aeroponic RainForest range throws nutrient solution into a fine, oxygen-charged spray around the base of every stem, so cuttings sit in constant moisture and air rather than in a waterlogged plug. Terra Aquatica design it to run without a protective dome, and its 70-litre reservoir holds enough solution to keep pH steady between top-ups. Each cutting is held in a reusable neoprene disc, which Terra Aquatica now supply in place of net pots.
Key Benefits
- 72 cutting sites in a compact 67 × 67 × 31 cm unit
- Vortex spray aeroponics — moisture and oxygen around every stem for fast, vigorous root development
- No humidity dome needed, so there is no lid to vent and less risk of trapped, stale air
- 70 L reservoir that buffers pH and nutrient strength between checks
- Reusable neoprene discs — quick to load, easy to clean and used again batch after batch
- Made in France from 100% recycled, UV-stabilised, light-blocking rotomoulded plastic, with a lifetime guarantee on the moulded parts
Why Do So Many Cuttings Fail to Root?
A fresh cutting has no roots to drink with, so it needs constant moisture at the stem — but a stem sitting in soggy, airless media quickly rots, and a sealed dome that keeps the leaves humid also traps the stale, damp air that encourages mould and damping off. Aeroponic propagation solves both at once: the base of each cutting hangs in a fine spray that keeps it wet and well aerated, so new roots form quickly and arrive clean, white and branching. Terra Aquatica report that research laboratories including Los Alamos and the Argonne National Laboratory in the USA recorded the fastest growth rates of any system they tested with this design. Roots grown this way adapt readily to wherever they go next — hydroponics, coco or soil — which helps keep transplant shock to a minimum.
How to Use
- Set up the unit on a level surface following Terra Aquatica's instructions, and fill the reservoir with water and a mild propagation-strength nutrient solution.
- Adjust the pH to the range you use for hydroponics (around 5.8–6.2 suits most crops).
- Prepare cuttings with a clean, angled cut, dip in rooting gel if you use one, and push each stem through the slit in a neoprene disc so the base hangs below the lid in the spray zone.
- Switch on the Vortex motor and keep the propagator in a warm spot under gentle propagation lighting.
- Check and top up the reservoir regularly; once roots have formed, transplant into your system, coco or soil, then clean the tank and discs before the next batch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many cuttings does it hold?
Up to 72, each in its own neoprene disc, on a 67 × 67 cm footprint.
Do I need a propagator lid or humidity dome?
No. Terra Aquatica design the Spinner 72 to work without a protective cover, because the spray keeps every stem moist from below.
What does the lifetime guarantee cover?
The rotomoulded plastic parts made in France by Terra Aquatica, under reasonable use. The motor and other accessories are excluded.
Can I plant the rooted cuttings into soil?
Yes. Terra Aquatica note that roots grown in the HydroCloner adapt easily to hydroponics, coco or soil.
