TrolMaster - EC Fan Controller (EFC-1)

The TrolMaster EFC-1 EC Fan Controller is designed to give growers precise control over EC fans when using the Tent-X Control System. In indoor growing environments, maintaining stable airflow and proper negative pressure inside a grow tent is essential for managing heat, humidity and plant health. The EFC-1 allows the Tent-X controller to adjust the variable speed of compatible EC intake and exhaust fans using either PWM or 0–10V output.

By automating fan speed control, growers can create a more stable grow room or grow tent environment. Proper airflow improves humidity management, strengthens plant structure during vegetative growth, and helps prevent mould issues during the flowering and bloom stage.

How It Solves Grow Problems

Poor airflow is one of the most common issues in indoor growing. Without proper ventilation, humidity builds up, temperatures rise, and plants can struggle with weak growth, disease pressure, or poor bud development during flowering.

The EFC-1 allows growers to control the speed of EC intake and exhaust fans directly through the Tent-X controller. This means airflow can automatically adjust to maintain stable grow room conditions.

By managing both intake and exhaust fans, growers can maintain the correct negative pressure inside a grow tent. This helps control humidity, prevents stagnant air, and ensures fresh CO₂-rich air is constantly moving through the canopy. The result is stronger vegetative growth, improved plant health and better yields during the bloom stage.

How to Use

1. Connect the EFC-1 module to the Tent-X controller using the RJ12 connection.

2. Select the correct output mode on the EFC-1 for your EC fan type (PWM or 0–10V).

3. Plug the EC fan control cable into the EFC-1 RJ12 port.

4. Assign the fan position within the Tent-X system:

   • F1 for the exhaust fan

   • F2 for the intake fan

5. Configure the fan settings within the Tent-X controller to adjust airflow based on environmental conditions.

6. If controlling both intake and exhaust fans, connect a second EFC-1 using a Y-splitter or SPH-1 splitter to the DEVICE port and connect the appropriate fan to each adaptor.
