The Problem with Cutting Access into Sheeting

A slit cut in polythene lasts about a fortnight. The edges split, the tape you patched it with peels off in the humidity, and light leaks straight through whatever gap is left. How to Use

• Fix your sheeting across the opening with a staple gun or strong tape.
• Wipe the plastic clean and dry where the zip will sit.
• Peel the backing and press the zipper down the centre of the sheet, smoothing as you go.
• Unzip fully, then run a scalpel down the inside of the zip to open the sheeting.
• Press the adhesive firmly along its full length before first use.
