Description
Clean, venturi-safe pH up for injector-fed feed systems
Athena Pro Line Balance is the dry, concentrated pH up in Athena's Pro Line programme. It is made from ultra-pure potassium carbonate that is 100% soluble, so it dissolves into a strong stock concentrate and raises the pH of a fertiliser solution without leaving residue in fine fittings. Athena developed it for advanced fertigation set-ups that use venturi injectors such as Netaflex, where potassium silicate pH-up products can clog the venturi, and it can be mixed at whatever dilution your injection system needs. It sits alongside Pro Core, Pro Grow and Pro Bloom as the programme's pH adjuster, and works just as well in a batch tank or with a dosing pump.
Key Benefits
- Ultra-pure potassium carbonate – raises solution pH cleanly and adds only potassium alongside it
- 100% soluble – mixes to a high-strength stock concentrate with no sediment
- Venturi-safe – designed for Netaflex-style injectors that potassium silicate can block
- Adjustable strength – 0.25 to 1 lb per US gallon of concentrate (about 30–120 g per litre), matched to your water
- Pro Line partner – the pH step of Athena's Core, Grow and Bloom programme
Low pH and Unstable Feed Solutions
Mineral fertilisers are acidic, and soft or reverse-osmosis water has little buffering, so a freshly mixed feed can land well below the target range. When pH sits too low, micronutrients such as iron and manganese become over-available and can reach toxic levels, while others are taken up poorly - showing as leaf spotting, scorched margins and poor nutrient uptake. Athena's approach is to set the water's pH with Balance before the fertilisers go in, so every batch starts from the same point and nutrient availability stays predictable.
How to Use
- Safety first: wear gloves, eye protection and a respirator when handling the granules or the concentrate.
- Make the concentrate: half fill a container with clean water, then add Pro Balance slowly while stirring until it dissolves, and top up to volume. The mix heats as it dissolves - let it cool fully before use.
- Mix rate: 0.25–1 lb per US gallon (roughly 30–120 g per litre); Athena advise a higher rate when your source water is low in alkalinity or pH, and a lower rate for hard, high-alkalinity water.
- Dose: inject or add the concentrate to bring the fertiliser solution up to your target pH, then confirm with a calibrated pH meter.
- Storage: keep it away from acids and low-pH products, and away from aluminium, which it corrodes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Pro Balance and Blended Balance?
Pro Balance is a dry potassium carbonate concentrate made for venturi injection systems such as Netaflex. Blended Balance is Athena's ready-to-use liquid pH up made from potassium silicate, intended for systems without venturis.
Can I use it with Netaflex?
Yes. Athena developed Pro Balance specifically for advanced irrigation systems like Netaflex, whose venturis can clog when potassium silicate pH-up products are used.
How strong should I make the concentrate?
Between 0.25 and 1 lb per US gallon (roughly 30 to 120 g per litre). Use the higher end when your source water has low alkalinity or a low pH, and the lower end for hard water.
Why does the mix get hot?
Dissolving potassium carbonate releases heat. Mix it slowly into water, stir until fully dissolved and let the concentrate cool before you use it.
