Description

Two Lights' Worth of Grow Space Under a Loft Roof

The BudBox Pro XXL-R Tent (120cm x 240cm x 180cm) is the largest of BudBox's three pitched-roof tents: a 2.88m² floor, 2.4m long and 1.2m wide, with the roof running the full length so it lines up under the ridge of a loft. The walls are 140cm high and the roof slopes in at 45 degrees to a flat 40cm ridge at 180cm, giving room for two lights side by side along the centre line where most flat-topped 200cm tents would not fit. With two lights in a tight roof space, heat and humidity are the main things to manage, so the XXL-R has two 275mm and four 225mm double-cuffed ducting ports, four screened passive vents and four side access doors — two on each long side — so you can reach both halves of the canopy without climbing in. The frame is BudBox's 25mm, 1mm-wall tempered steel with all-metal push/click corners, and the canvas comes with a silver Mylar or BudBox PRO White lining.

Key Benefits

  • Pitched roof along the full 2.4m length — 140cm walls rising to 180cm — sits under a loft's ridge
  • 2.88m² clear floor with no cross poles, room for two 1.2m x 1.2m growing zones
  • 6 doors: 2 front main doors and 4 side access doors, two on each long side
  • 2 x 275mm and 4 x 225mm ducting ports, double-cuffed and 20% oversized, plus 4 x 100mm cable ports
  • 4 roof hanging bars with 8 silicone pads and 4 hanging straps to spread the weight of two lights and a filter
  • Uplift irrigation bar and 2 irrigation ports, plus 4 micro-mesh passive vents for low fresh-air intake
  • Silver Mylar or PRO White lining, with a drip tray in the matching colour

How to Use

  • Check the space: the tent needs a 120cm x 240cm floor, 140cm of height at the long side walls and 180cm along the ridge, so set it parallel to the loft's own ridge.
  • Assemble the frame where it will stand — the poles push and click into the metal corners — then fit the canvas and the drip tray.
  • Treat the tent as two 1.2m x 1.2m zones and hang one light over each from the roof bars on rope ratchets.
  • Extract from a high port at the gable end, where warm air gathers, and draw fresh air in low through the passive vents; pull every cuff tight around the ducting.
  • Run irrigation under the uplift bar and keep cables in the 100mm ports, away from water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which way round does it go in a loft?

The ridge runs the full 2.4m length, so stand the tent with its length parallel to the loft's own ridge. It needs 180cm along the centre line and 140cm at the long side walls.

How many lights will it take?

Two 600W-class lights, or two LEDs of similar output, one over each 1.2m x 1.2m half, hung from the four roof bars along the centre line.

What size extraction fan does it need?

The tent holds about 4.8m³ of air, so one change a minute is roughly 290m³/h before allowing for a carbon filter, ducting and the heat of two lights in a roof space. A 150mm (6in) fan and filter is the minimum, and a 200mm (8in) is the safer choice in a hot loft.

Silver Mylar or PRO White — which lining should I choose?

BudBox's flat PRO White lining reflects more PAR light and spreads it without hot spots; BudBox say Mylar reflects more heat and runs around 6-8°C warmer. With two lights under a roof, White helps keep temperatures down; Silver costs less.
